Antonio Rivas is an executive partner with Gartner Executive Programs, with 25 years of senior IT executive experience in large national and multinational telecommunications, retail and financial services companies. Rivas has expertise in the development and deployment of enterprise architectures, applications and systems; governance models and methodologies; and the development and management of multidisciplinary high-performance teams.
Before joining Gartner, Rivas worked at Telefnica, a Spanish telecommunications company, where he was architecture director for Latin America, with responsibility for defining architecture and the implementation of systems and infrastructure for mobile and fixed operators.
Prior to that, he was architecture director at Brasil Telecom, where he led the merger process of 10 newly privatized operators, and designed and implemented a set of architectures and technologies compatible with short- and long-term strategic business plans.
Previous to Brasil Telecom, Rivas was systems and architecture development director at Unibanco, a Brazilian financial conglomerate, where his mission was to develop technologies to support the different relationships between the bank and its corporate clients. He also led the systems and data process merger between Unibanco and Banco Nacional and later, for other companies acquired by the group.
Rivas began his career in information technology with SG2, a consulting company linked to Societe Generale bank in France, where he developed applications and IT strategic plans for the construction, manufacturing and retail industries.
Rivas holds a bachelors and a masters degree in software engineering from the Paulista Institute of Technology IPT/ SP in Brazil. He is fluent in Portuguese, English and Spanish.
