TICAL2016 confirms two more international speakers

SILVIO MEIRA 0023 GUBrazilian professor from UFPE and Internet Society Director complete the team of international guests of the Conference.

It is formed the team of international speakers who will share their experiences in the plenary sessions of TICAL2016. After announcing the presence of Henoch Aguiar (Argentina), Maria Elena Chan (Mexico), Marc Hoit (USA) and Antonio Rivas (Brazil), the Conference Program Committee confirmed the participation of Olaf Kolkman, Executive Director of Internet Technology at Internet Society (Netherlands) and Silvio Meira (photo), Emeritus Professor of the Computer Centre of the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), Brazil.

Electronic engineer by the brazilian Technological Institute of Aeronautics (ITA, in 1977) Master of Computer Science by UFPE (1981) and Ph.D in Computer Science by the University of Kent at Canterbury, UK (1985), Silvio Meira is Emeritus Professor of the Computer Centre of the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), in Recife, associate professor at the Law School of FGV-Rio, founder and president of Porto Digital's Board of Directors, co-creator and provocateur of one of the first networks of business designers in Brazil, called IKEWAI. He is also the author of the book “New Innovative Business on Entrepreneur Growth in Brazil”, published by Casa da Palavra in October 2013, and founded and was the chief scientist of CESAR, the Center for Studies and Advanced Systems of Recife until July 2014.

In turn, the Chief Internet Technology Officer of Internet Society Olaf Kolkman has responsibility for leading Internet Society’s Strategic Technical activities, particularly as they pertain to issues and opportunities for enhancing the Internet’s evolution.

Kolkman was chair of the DNS Extensions Working Group between 2003 and 2006. He was IAB member from 2006 to 2012 and was its chair between March 2007 and March 2011. Oversight Committee and the IETF Trust. He was Acting RFC Series Editor in 2011. He chairs the IAB's IANA Evolution Program, chairs the IETF Weirds working group, and is the IETF/ISOC representative on the European Multi-Stakeholder Platform on ICT Standardization. He is also a Trusted Community Representative in the context of the DNS Root-Signing ceremony, and a RIPE Arbiter. He was a member of the Panel on Global Internet Cooperation and Governance Mechanisms. Olaf Kolkman is based in the Netherlands, where he lives with his family.
